Sanctification
Acts 20:32; 1 Peter 1:2

OPEN IT Discuss what it means to become a parent: You become one instantly when your first child is born; but you’ve so much to learn and experience that you continue to become a parent in practice, never quite “arriving” never quite finished. EXPLORE IT

Sanctification is in three stages:
1. Positional: At the point of salvation, God separated us from the penalty of sin and placed us into the body of forgiven sinners, the church; we’ve been given the righteousness of Christ and have been set apart by God and for God. (Acts 26:18; 1 Cor. 6:11) 2. Progressive: Since we retained our sinful nature and still live among the world, we are not quite as holy in practical daily living as we should be. Through the Word and His Spirit, God continually works in us to be holy as He is holy. (Rom 12:1; 1 Cor. 1:2; 1 Pet.1:15-16) 3. Perfected: Someday, either through death or the rapture of saints, God will deliver us from the world and from our carnal selves and take us to live with Him, completely holy.
