Prayer
Matt. 6:9-13

What is prayer? Simply put, it is communicating with God – acknowledging of course, that communication is both talking and listening. There is much to study about prayer, such as when, how, where, hindrances, types, etc., but in this study we will concentrate on: Why Pray?
1. To be obedient. (1 Thess. 5:17) (Luke 18:1) 2. To be like Jesus. (Mark 1:35) 3. To spend time with God. (If you love someone, you will want to spend time with them) 4. To worship God. (Matt. 6:9) 5. To be able to resist temptation. (Matt. 26:11) 6. To confess sin and receive forgiveness. (1 John 1:9) 7. To receive help. (Matt. 7:7) (James 1:6-7) 8. To give thanks. (Col. 4:2)
